Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama claims that he pushed Governor Alfred Mutua to execute development projects in the county during his first term in office between 2013 and 2017.
Muthama said he kept the governor on his toes to ensure Machakos residents got the services they deserve when he was a senator.
"It came with a lot of difficulties, court cases, verbal attacks and, so much more. The governor tried because I was there to do my work," Muthama said.
"I would push him and he would try even if it's to construct those 'shoe-polished' roads of his that wear off after a few months," he added.
He addressed the press at Tala in Matungulu, Machakos County on Monday.
Muthama said the current wrangles between the governor and members of the county assembly are because he has failed to discharge his duties as required.
He said Mutua has no one to push him to do his work.
"MCAs are complaining of poor services by the county's executive. One year down the line, they haven't seen tangible projects. They are afraid of facing the electorates since they don't know what to tell them," Muthama said.
Muthama reiterated that the governor needs to be impeached from his position since has turned a deaf ear to the cries of Machakos people who are hungry for development.
"Wacha hawa wawakilishi wa wodi waende bungeni, wakapige kura ya turufu ya kumng'atua Mutua mamlakani badala ya kushindia kulalamika," Muthama said.
