An elected legislator in Kisii County allied to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has confirmed that she will sponsor over 900 Boda boda operators for training.
Kisii County Women Representative Janet Ong'era said she will ensure the riders get necessary training for the purpose of curbing road carnage.
"The region has been witnessing accidents caused due to careless riding because most of the Boda boda riders are untrained. My office is keen to ensure riders are undergoing training to curb carnage," she stated.
Ms. Ong'era said the training will equip the Boda boda riders on the need to adhere to road rules and regulations.
"Riders will comply with the set traffic rules once they undergo training. Each rider will have a driving licence," she stated.
The MP also confirmed that she will ensure Boda boda riders get insurance and NHIF cover.
"I'm appealing to Boda boda riders to cooperate so that to enable my office to coordinate their training easy. No rider will be asked to pay money to get the training," she added.
She reiterated empowering the youth, women and disabled people is her top priority.
