A secondary school teacher in Kenyenya sub-county has gone into hiding for allegedly impregnating a form two female student and later helped her to procure an abortion.
Confirming the incident area police boss Isaac Thuranira said the suspect identified as Geoffrey Mogaka went into hiding last week Thursday after he realized police were tracing him.
"Mogaka impregnated the female student and helped her to abort the pregnancy. The student's mother reported the matter to us and we launched a search to arrest the suspect but, he got the information and escaped before we could apprehend him," he said.
Mr. Thuranira called on members of the public to report the suspect to authorities whenever they will spot him in the village.
"We will not leave anything to chance. The suspect must be apprehended to be arraigned in court to serve as an example to the rest of the male teachers fond of sleeping with their students," he said.
The police boss said upon questioning the student, she admitted to have aborted the 3 months pregnancy.
He warned men against chasing students for love and sex saying the law will not spare anyone.
