1. Swale Nguru
He was born in Bondeni, Mombasa County. He is a business magnate, investor and philanthropist who started as a fishmonger. He is a major producer and exporter of sisal from his vast plantations. He is also involved in real estate, construction and owns corporations like Kilindini Warehouses.
2. Hassan Joho
He is the incumbent Mombasa County Governor. He founded several companies in sectors like shipping, logistics (East African Terminals Ltd), retail and manufacturing firms.
He alsofounded the Hassan Joho Foundation which engages in various activities to positively impact the people.
3. Tahir Sheikh Said (TSS)
He was born in Moyale in 1942 but spent his life at the coast till his demise in 2017.His conglomerate include transport and logistics (Transmara Logistics Ltd), real estate, food processing, exportation of tea and coffee. He also owned TSS Towers in Mombasa County. His property is now controlled by his children.
4. Rashid Sajjad Mohamed
He was very popular at the Coast during President Daniel Moi’s regime and was a nominated MP in 1998. His business empire comprises of Milly Glass factory, Milly Fruits among others. He owns vast land tracts and does business both in Kenya and abroad.
5. Akothee.
She is a musician who is known for her lavish and flamboyant lifestyle. She is based in Mombasa. She shops abroad and drives flashy cars. She has invested in real estate - Akothee Property and also in transport business. She pockets over Sh1 million from music. Her wealth is estimated to be over Sh400 million.
