Deputy President William Ruto has been accorded more security details following claims that his life is in danger.
This follows claims that four Cabinet Secretaries from the Mt Kenya region were plotting his political downfall and ultimate assassination, as emerged on Monday.
However, it has emerged that the report was out as early as late last week, after which President Uhuru Kenyatta is said to have ordered a scale up of his deputy's security.
Uhuru is said to have as well summoned top security bossesed by Interior CS Fred Matiangi to Statehouse on Saturday for a urgent meeting.
The CSs implicated in the alleged attempt on Ruto's life are Peter Munya (Trade), Cicily Kariuki (Health), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and James Macharia of Transport.
Uhuru also ordered that the named CSs and Principal Secretaries alongside parastaral bosses be summoned by the police as investigations start.
Consequently, 10 top state bosses have since been summoned and availed themselves to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices for questioning.
The 4 CSs on Monday presented themselves to the detectives, whether though they admitted holding meetings, never at any point have they plotted anyone's assassination.
Munya said that no formal statement had been made on yhebissue, claiming that the detectives are only relying on a purported letter making rounds on social media.
“We have gone through the allegations and there is no written allegation recorded in the OB. What they have is a purported letter that has been circulating in the social media. We told them we could not respond to that kind of a letter,” Said Munya, according to the Standard.
DCI George Kinoti has since admitted thst the DP personally called him to raise the alarm that his life is in danger.
