Political analyst Dennis Anyoka now says that the ongoing exchange between opposition leader Raila Odinga and a section of Rift Valley politicians is justifiable.
The former Premier has been placed on the spot by leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto over alleged plans to sabotage the DP in Jubilee Party, resulting in a nasty exchange.
But the commentator now says that the pro-Ruto group is simply trying to endear itself to the DP with an aim of ripping with regards to their future political endeavours.
He said that the plan is to appear to be fighting for the DP against his enemies, going to be identified by the electorate in that region where most are supporters of the DP.
"Viongozi hawa wanataka kuonekana wanampigania Ruto, huku mpango ukiwa ni kufanikiwa hapo mbele (the plan is to impress the public through the DP for future benefits)," he said.
He was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha's show on Monday.
Among the leaders who have been seen viciously bashing Raila includes Kaperet MP Oscar Sudi who has also questioned his 2018 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The commentator said that the lawmaker is most likely using the issue to his advantage, and is counting on it for political relevance ahead of the 2022 polls.
"Sudi anataka ile tunaita political relevance. Mpango wake ni kupandisha hisia za wananchi kwa manufaa yao wenyewe (the plan is to raise political emotions for political relevance)," he added.
The group has however been taken on by forces close to Raila and a rival faction of the Jubilee Party.
