Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket has mocked lawyer Prof Tom Ojienda after he was defeated in the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) polls to elect a new male representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Prof Ojienda, who was the incumbent, was ousted from the plum position by former Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) chairman Macharia Njeru.
The results announced by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) showed Njeru got 2,738 votes against Ojienda's 2,545 votes.
Kamket, who is a close ally of KANU chairman and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, claimed the former law professor failed to defend his seat for 'aligning' himself with Deputy President William Ruto's campaign team dubbed 'Tanga Tanga'.
"Congratulations to Macharia Njeru for winning LSK Elections. Tom Ojienda decided to align himself with Team TangaTanga; otherwise known as Team Thieves. And as they say: Choices have consequences," the KANU legislator tweeted on Thursday.
City lawyer Donald Kipkorir also took a swipe at Ojienda claiming he failed in the hotly contested race for running a highly corruptive and monetized campaign.
"The LSK elections was a turning point in elections in Kenya. Victory of Macharia Njeru was for integrity. The other side ran a highly corruptive and monetized campaign that even enlisted Senators. It was the darkest chapter in LSK history," Kipkorir said.
"This is one time that we shouldn’t be magnanimous in Victory. We should call out lawyers especially the junior ones who got irrationally exuberant with few pieces of silver for who they are: corrupt and unethical. Macharia Njeru has to redeem the soul of LSK," he added in another tweet.
