On his facebook page, Khalwale said the project will be useful, profitable and realistic to the economic bloc if it is developed as an EAC project.

"The SGR will make realistic economic sense if it is developed as an EAC project serving the partner states," he said.

"Only then will it be profitable and pay for itself. Anything else is as hollow and meaningless as the words tibim, tialala, and riaaa!"read his facebook post.

The former Senator, a strong ally of the Deputy President Dr.William Ruto has 'opposed' the planned Phase II of the Project.

His remarks come at a time opposition leader Raila Odinga is preparing to be part of the delegation that will visit China to negotiate the 380B loan for its completion from Naivasha to Kisumu.

The SGR phase III is expected to be complete before the end of this year with delays in funding jeopardizing the early completion.

A one time Raila Odinga ally and strong influencer, Khalwale has been pitching tent in his county with Deputy President making more visits to the region than any other leader.
