In a message through his Twitter account on Wednesday, the Canadian-based barrister compared how politicians in Kenya and Canada are paid.

While sharing the comparisons of earnings among the two countries, Miguna pointed out the need for "citizens who understand basic facts about their country,"

“History teaches us that dictatorship and tyranny are defeated by citizens who understand basic facts about their country, those wielding illegitimate power over them and use truth as they know it to fight for their freedom and seek justice. In that regard, here are the FACTS,” he said Miguna in a tweet

According to the former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant, a Canadia MP earns slightly over Sh1 million with no allowances while a Kenyan MP gets over Sh1.4 million alongside several benefits in car allowances, interest fee mortgage and CDF.

Miguna further noted that a Canadian Prime Minister earns Sh2 million and has no 'discretionary' funds while a Kenyan president "basically takes whatever he wants from the Treasury."
