Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has spoken of his plan aimed at boosting the economy in the region.
Ongwae revealed that his government is committed to ensuring all markets and trading centres in the villages are well-lit.
"Traders in all the markets across the county and trading centres deep in villages should have nothing to worry about because my government is working closely with Kenya Power to ensure street lights are set up to produce lights at night so that traders can operate 24 hours as this will help in boosting the economy as well as livelihoods," stated Ongwae at Gusii Stadium on Friday.
The ODM allied governor also revealed that there are plans to increase the connection of electricity to various homes.
"Kenya power regional manager Mr. John Guda has assured me that officials from the lighting company will work with us and ensure an increased connection of electricity to homes is realised. Adequate electricity supply will help in achieving vision 2030 and President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four Agenda," noted Ongwae.
He appealed to residents to report anyone stealing electric cables and those connecting electricity illegally to authorities for arrests to be made.
