Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho had his Monday evening Iftar dubbed the 'Governor's Iftar' at Serani Arab Boys grounds.
Iftar is also known as Fatoor in English, as per the Wikipedia, is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. They break their fast at the time of the call to prayer for the evening prayer.
It is also an annual event that brings together both Muslims and Non -Muslims friends during the holy month of Ramadan as a symbol of unity and togetherness.
Joho was joined by Senate Minority leader James Orengo, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, political leaders from the Coast, as well as local Muslims and none Muslims residents.
"We echoed the message of building national Cohesion and Peaceful coexistence amongst all the citizens of this great country. Ramadhan Mubarak," the governor said in a post on his Facebook page.
