There was tight security as a prime suspect in the attempted murder of former Garissa CEC for finance Idriss Mukhtar was buried at his grandmother’s home in Ngamini village Waseges ward in Subukia Nakuru.
David Mwai, 27, was buried in a ceremony that took less than two hours and attended by not more than 200 people.
Many of his friends kept off the burial save for a few who accompanied family members.
The alleged assassin is said to have been hired to kill the former Garissa finance boss.
He reportedly confessed to police that the initial plan was to kidnap the ex-minister and poison him and after it failed, he was ordered to shoot him dead.
Mwai who is little known among residents of Ngamini village died inside Parklands police cells on August 30 leaving behind one wife and two children aged one and three.
Waseges MCA Daniel Kiriethe said mystery surrounds the death of Mwai and police should the truth.
He also told the police to produce the deceased's wife who went missing after reportedly being arrested.
“If police are treating Mwai as the prime suspect then they should produce the wife because to the best of the family knowledge, he is in the hands of police,” said the MCA.
