It now emerges that former freedom fighter and Kangundo Member of Parliament Paul Ngei had a strong love for women, and had several of them.
Ngei was one of the Kapenguria 6 team of himself, Jomo Kenyatta, Fred Kubai, Bildad Kaggia, Kung'u Karumba and Achieng' Oneko which was condemned to the Lokitaung' Prison in Lodwar in 1952 over its anti-colonialism ideologies.
And when they finally slipped out, and Kenyatta became President in 1963, Ngei went ahead to serve in several ministries, including the Lands ministry at some time.
He was also known for his love for women, a characteristic that saw him nicknamed 'Fagia Dunia' (the sweeper) by colleagues.
According to a Daily Nation publication dated September 2017, the leader was at some point summoned by the court to testify in the murder probe of Judy, daughter to fellow Minister Jackson Angaine.
He had dropped the slain lady home the night before her death, and when asked by the defence what he was doing with her, his answer was straightforward.
“Well, I would say that’s a silly question. You shouldn’t ask a man why he was in the company of a beautiful lady. Every normal man wants to have a nice looking woman next to him!” he was quoted.
It emerges that the minister who would later have both of his feet amputated due to diabetes did not fully let go of the habit even as he grew older.
Also apparently having many children out of wedlock due to his many sexual escapades, on another occasion he allocated one of his daughters a piece of land in Machakos and was shocked when the lady came back to thank him, apparently not aware that he was her father.
“Young girl, you mean your mother has never told you that I am your dad!” wondered Ngei, shocked.
He died on August 15, 2004.
