1. Lipstick

Always dispose of your tube when you get an infection. This will reduce the risk of reinfection or even getting a throat infection. Lipstick can expire after two years but will start deteriorating earlier when used frequently. When lip products expire they start becoming hard and crumbly making it uncomfortable to apply. Lip gloss can be used for one year but it is advisable to stop using it as soon as it becomes cloudy and has a funny smell.

2. Mascara

It is advisable to discard mascara if it has been opened for three months. This will reduce the risk of getting eye infections as well as irritation. We only have two sets of eyes so it is better to be safe by taking care of them.

3. Foundation

Foundation contains salicylic acid which controls breakouts and helps in killing bacteria that causes acne. When this acid expires it will not protect your skin from the sun rays. The molecules in the product will also start to break down causing reactions with your skin. This may lead to lumps on your face, black spots or even pimples. For people with acne, it is important to ensure you don't use expired products.

4. Eyeliner

Make sure you replace your eyeliner every six to 12 months to avoid getting eye infections.
