Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has revealed why he has thrown his weight behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
The county boss said he fully supports the initiative because its purpose is to find a lasting solution to the country's peace and governance, a process that will include fixing ethnicity, national ethos and patriotism, inclusivity, devolution, divisive elections, safety and security, corruption, shared prosperity, responsibilities and human rights.
According to Ongwae, the BBI task force is mandated to transform Kenya into an industrialised country offering high quality of life to all citizens by promoting cohesion, peace and tranquillity.
Ongwae made the remarks on Thursday during a Building Bridges to Unity Advisory Task Force public hearing forum in Kisii.
The initiative was a product of the famous March 9, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga.
"I wish to reiterate my full support for the historic handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Hon Raila Odinga and any legal and political process that findings from the task force shall deem remedial for the country, going forward," stated the ODM governor.
The county boss appealed to politicians irrespective of their political parties to support the initiative for the sake of ensuring the country doesn't experience election chaos and political misunderstanding in future.
