National Soccer team, Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama should be preparing for the battle of his life against Spanish giants Barcelona again in the near future.
On Thursday, 2018/2019 Champions League group stages draw pitied Wanyama’s English side Tottenham Hotspur against Barcelona in Group B, alongside PSV Eindhoven of Netherlands and Italian giants Inter Milan.
Barcelona are the five-times Champions League winners, Inter Milan three-times winners, PSV have won it once while Tottenham are yet to become Champions.
According to the draw, Wanyama’s team will host Barcelona in England on October 03, 2018, before visiting the famous Camp Nou Stadium in Spain on November 11, 2018.
In 2012 while playing for Scottish giants Celtic, Victor Wanyama scored against Barcelona in a Champions’ League Group match against Barcelona.
His team went on to win 2-1. The match was played on November 07, 2012 making him the first Kenyan to score in a Champions League match.
That Barcelona side included the likes of Victor Valdes, Dani Alves now at PSG, Javier Mascherano, Pedro now at Chelsea, Jordi Alba, Xavi, Alexandra Song, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi and Alexis Sanchez now at Manchester United.
The big question is, will Victor Wanyama score against Barcelona again to become the only Kenyan to achieve that feat twice?
Like in 2012, no one expected Wanyama, of all the people, to score against Barcelona, but in football, anything can happen.
Wanyama recently started training with his team after suffering a knee injury in July.
If he will be fully fit by the time Spurs face Barcelona, Wanyama could score against the Spanish giants once again.
