Up to 10 Members of Parliament want Deputy President William Ruto to be investigated to ascertain the source of his wealth.
The MPs said Ruto’s integrity remains questionable unless a lifestyle audit gives him a clean bill of health.
Speaking on Wednesday, Lugari MP Ayub Savula claimed Ruto is operating with hordes of cash that he dishes out to politicians who back him.
“We want to know the net worth of the Deputy President so that when he will be running for president in 2022 we shall be able to assess whether he is fit to hold that office or not,” Savula said.
The MP was reading a statement by the MPs at Parliament Buildings on Wednesday.
The MPs said the DP’s monthly salary income is known and has left many questions on where he gets the extra cash.
“A lifestyle audit should be carried out on the DP based on (the discrepancies between) his known income and the money he uses to bribe MPs who queue at his office,” the MP added.
The MPs who want Ruto probed are Joshua Kutuny (Cherengany), Raphael Wanjala (Budalang’i), Sakwa Bunyasi (Nambale), William Kamket (Tiaty), Beatrice Adagala (Vihiga), Alfred Agoi (Sabatia), Simba Arati (Dagoretti North), TJ Kajwang (Ruaraka) and Omar Mwinyi (Changamwe).
