The two attended the funeral service of former President Daniel Moi's eldest son Jonathan Toroitich Moi at Kabarak, where their rivalry played out openly.

Each mentioned the other's name only once in their speeches.

Senator Moi only mentioned Ruto when introducing present guests while the DP only mentioned the Senator's name when he called him to read Moi's tribute.

But when he took the stage, Mzee Moi's other son who is also Rongai MP Raymond Moi appeared to attack both the DP and the Senator for their enmity.

“Let us not pretend to be united. Let us be united because after all we shall remain in this country and we shall never leave this country because it is the only country we have," Raymond was quoted by the Nation.

He also called for national unity, at a time when the ruling Jubilee Party seems to he breaking down the line, with each faction pulling away.

"Today we have come together from different political affiliations such as kieleweke and others but Jonathan has brought us together and let us be united as a country," noted the Rongai MP.

Mzee Moi was not present for the function but attended his son's burial in Kabimoi, Baringo county.

Jonathan succumbed to cancer at a Nakuru hospital on Friday 19.
