Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has finally broken silence after President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga were linked to the mega gold scam.
Haji, who has expressed his commitment in the fight against corruption, said that information on social media is ill-timed and ill-motivated.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Haji said that it is untrue that information was relayed to the President and AU special envoy.
He noted that a probe has been launched to determine the truth behind the audio of Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula speaking to a businessman from Saudi Arabia.
He asked social media users not to continue spreading propaganda unless the information is analyzed and the truth is revealed.
He also said that he has directed the office of the Inspector-General of Police Hilary Mutyambai to unravel the truth behind the audio with immediate effect as Kenyans await for the truth.
"The misleading knowledge and involvement of the President, the former Prime Minister and CS Matiang’i, they resolved to [file] a report [with] Kenyan authorities and cooperate with law enforcement in unearthing the under-dealings,” read part of his statement, as quoted by Daily Nation.
Deputy President William Ruto has come out to defend President Kenyatta after the audio leaked.
