At Mombasa on Monday, Balala seemed to belittle Kenyans when responding to death of 11 Rhinos.

"I am not going anywhere. Nobody appointed me other that President Uhuru Kenyatta. Those calling for my resignation can go to hell."

And the remarks ignited social media debate in which Kenyans condemned him for disrespecting honour given to serve in the Tourism sector.

While appearing in a parliamentary committee on Tuesday, a humbled Balala apologised adding that he may have been talking out of emotions.

"I am truly sorry for the outbursts. I was not intending to but it's because social media users do know how I am also pained by the death of Rhinos.

"I truly apologize for the remarks. However, they should also know that the damage also affects me," he said.

In his outbursts, Balala seemed to forget that the appointment authority works on the mercy of Kenyans.

The former Mvita MP is one of Uhuru's trusted lieutenants and is serving sixth year as minister.
