Political strategist Benji Ndolo has raised alarm over an alleged pathetic situation at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) morgue.
In a tweet on Sunday, Ndolo claimed that so pathetic is the situation at the mortuary, that some bodies have been placed on the floor, due to lack of enough resources.
He added that there are no cold rooms in the facility, proof that something is very wrong and needs to be quickly addressed by the relevant authorities.
"Just seen a very disturbing report about the state of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Mortuary being in a pathetic state, no cold rooms and bodies strewn on the floor. Something is truly very wrong with Africans. I will NOT stop saying it!" he wrote.
The facility was again on the spot in September last year after patients were spotted sleeping on the floor, and others on pieces of cartons along the corridors over lack of beds, and space in the wards.
The hospital's Chief Executive Officer Peter Okoth blamed the situation on shortage of beds at the largest medical facility in Western Kenya, saying that the number of patients had doubled the hospital's holding capacity.
