On Friday 11th Jan 2018, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko failed to name his deputy claiming that NASA had written to him a letter proposing Rahab Wangui to be his deputy.

"I was ready with a nominee but I received a letter from Nasa requesting me to consider their  proposed nominee. Therefore, I shall put that into consideration by consulting further," Sonko said.

He did show the letter to the press but claimed that it had been signed by the coalition CEO, Norman Magaya.

But on Sunday, the ODM secretary-general, Edwin Sifuna, denied the claims saying that ODM does not intend to be associated with the mess that happened in Nairobi.

“We did not send any name for deputy governorship position because we do not want to be associated with the mess that happened in Nairobi, NASA died long ago and the nominee should have been appointed through consultation between the parties that formed NASA coalition,” Mr Sifuna said.
