According to the area MCA Noah Kemboi who sponsored the training, the aim was to equip the bodaboda operators with skills and knowledge on road safety to reduce accidents.

“Due to the increasing number of accidents caused by the bodaboda operators on a daily basis due to lack of training I found it paramount for them to undergo the training to be efficient drivers,” said the Moiben MCA during the issuance of the driving licenses at Moiben Vocational Training College in Moiben on Monday.

The training was offered by Berur driving school. He noted that it's sad that there is a bodaboda accident section at Moi Teaching and Referral hospital where people are admitted on a daily basis.

“My aim is to ensure that the accidents caused by bodaboda’s reduce by half in my area of jurisdiction. The training will continue until all are trained and given licenses,” added Kemboi.

He called on all bodaboda operators to go for training and get driving licenses noting that lack of proper training is the major cause of accidents in the country.

Kemboi said those who have graduated will put them into cooperatives and give them money for them to improve their livelihoods.

The Chief Guest University of Eldoret VC. Prof. Teresa Akenga congratulated the MCA for training the bodaboda operators noting that this will improve their safety and also reduce accidents caused by them.
