This is as the opposition leader Raila Odinga-led party seeks to retain the Ugenya parliamentary seat in the forthcoming by-election set for early April.

Speaking when he led other area leaders in campaigning for ODM's Chris Karan on Saturday, Orengo urged the area residents to not embarrass Raila by voting for Karan's rivals.

He termed Karan as a loyal and diligent person who is committed to serving his people, urging Ugenya voters to award him by bringing him back to the office.

"Let us not ashame our party leader Raila Odinga and elect Chris Karan who has proved to be a loyal, diligent and committed leader for his constituents and the party," Orengo was quoted by the Nation.

He was accompanied by area Governor Cornel Rasanga, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Christine Ombaka among other leaders.

On her side, Ombaka urged the voters to not vote Karan's rival and former area lawmaker David Ochieng' noting that his election would be a boost for Deputy President and Raila's chief rival William Ruto.

Karan's August 8, 2017 election was nullified by the Supreme Court in December following a petition by Ochieng' of the Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party.

Speaking during a burial ceremony in the same region a week ago, Raila said that he would not be able to campaign for Karan, but urged them to vote for him.
