Foreign Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Ababu Namwamba on Sunday left to South Sudan to represent the country at a high-level meeting which will focus on the peace accord between President Salva Kiir and his political competitor Riek Machar.
In a Facebook post, Namwamba said that he will be in the extraordinary meeting to recheck how far the two South Sudanese leaders have reached before the May 12 government formation.
"The meeting will review progress of implementation of the South Sudan Peace deal signed eight months ago by key protagonists President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Dr. Riek Machar Tieny who were to form a unity government by May 12, a week from now," reads part of his Facebook post.
Namwamba played a significant role in the negotiation of the peace deal in Addis Ababa and Khartoum eight months ago which is due in one week.
There has been a long resistance and war in South Sudan between supporters of the two leaders who have been rivals since South Sudan got its freedom from Sudan in 2005.
