Police in Kisii on Tuesday arrested a middle-aged woman from Eronge area after she confessed to killing her husband
The woman, Esther Bochaberi, said the deceased was planning to marry another wife, a move that led to domestic quarrels in their home.
The drama unfolded when Bochaberi was given a chance to address mourners at her husband’s burial, where she started narrating the ordeal to friends and relatives who had attended the ceremony.
Confirming the incident, area Chief Darius Mogere said irate mourners snatched the microphone from the woman and threatened to lynch her after she started narrating how the husband had been giving her a rough time.
“The whole village was left in shock after the woman confessed that she was behind the death of her husband. We, however, managed to rescue her from angry mourners and relatives who were threatening to lynch her,” said the chief.
Mogere further confirmed that police officers are currently holding the woman at Kisii Central Police Station.
He said the officers are conducting investigations before Bochaberi is arraigned in court.
Bochaberi’s husband died two weeks ago in a grisly accident along the Kisii-Kilgoris road.
