Police in Mombasa have launched investigations after arresting three suspected car thieves on Saturday.
The three; Lass Wanjiru, Teresia Wambui and Daniel Kariuki were arrested after they hit a PSV tuk tuk on Moi Avenue with a Toyota Fielder believed to have been stolen.
"They were driving into the other side of the road while escaping with a stolen car. The stolen vehicle has registration number: Fielder KCH 354E, white in color," Mombasa Police Commander Johnstone Ipara told the press on Saturday.
“We suspect these three persons have been robbing our people of their hard earned sweet," he added.
Speaking at the Central Police Station, Ipara indicated the three would be arraigned in court to face robbery with violence charges, driving on the wrong side of the road, causing an accident, and failing to stop after causing an accident.
He warned persons planning to engage in crime in Mombasa, saying there could be a car stealing cartel in the town.
“We are looking for those cartels working with outsiders."
