Garissa County government has issued an eviction notice to traders whose premises lie within marked road reserves.
According to a notice seen by this writer, the traders have been given a 30-day notice to align their premises as per the available laws governing road reserves.
"It has come to our attention that your extension/enclosure/parking of buses and lorries is causing obstruction to other road users. Powers and privileges bestowed upon the Directorate of transport mandates management, development, rehabilitation and maintenance of urban roads," reads the statement signed by Abdi Dekow Osman, the CEC roads and transport.
Failure to observe the contents of the notice, the CEC threatened of dire consequences that will involve demolition of the said structures without further notice.
"You are forthwith required to remove the said obstruction within 30 days from the date of this notice, failure to which the obstruction will be removed without any further reference to you and at your cost," added the notice.
The latest notice comes barely a month after several buildings along Kismayo road were brought down over alleged encroachment on road reserves.
