Contrary to highly publicised Nyanza trip itinerary, President Uhuru Kenyatta may after all limit his trip to Kisii on Sunday.
Earlier, local media reported that Uhuru was to visit Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori and Kisii from Thursday, a claim which Raila Odinga denied.
"I have read alot that I will host the president in Nyanza. I don't know where the media gets these untrue reports," he said.
Instead, the president and Raila will only join Kisii residents on Sunday for International Youth meeting.
Before the event, Uhuru will launch newly constructed Gusii stadium and will be accompanied by local leaders.
"Both of them have confirmed attendance and I personally visited Raila in his office over the matter," said Duke Mainga, Kisii sports CeC.
After the launch of the stadium, Uhuru and Raila will address local leaders and two youths from each constituency from Kisii and Nyamira before addressing a bigger crowd at Kisii University.
Job opportunities, youth under employment and unity will feature in the event.
"We are ready to host them. They mean a lot to our economy," said Governor James Ongwae.
While it is not clear why the president may have cancelled trips across the vast Nyanza region, handshake politics may have after all contributed.
