Speaking at Grand Royal Swiss Hotel during the 25th anniversary of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga day one celebration on Saturday, Kisumu Governor Professor Anyang' Nyong'o urged the Odinga family to allow the county to have Jaramogi’s statue put up in Kisumu.

The ceremony, which was to be held in January had been postponed due to what the Odinga family termed as unavoidable circumstances.

Present at the celebration ceremony were members of the Odinga family led by his first born son and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA)lawmaker Oburu Oginga.

Political leaders present included Gem lawmaker Elisha Odhiambo, his Alego Usonga counterpart Samuel Atandi and Ruaraka parliamentarian TJ Kajwang'.Others were ODM Party Secretary-General and former Nairobi senatorial hopeful Edwin Sifuna, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi,  Migori Senator Ochilo Ayako, Seme member of Parliament James Nyikal, Rangwe legislator Lilian Gogo and her Budalangi counterpart Raphael Wanjala.
