In an interview, Deaf Football Association of Kenya Communication Officer Georgine Auma said over eight teams will take part in the three day tournament.

"We hold the national championship every year to select the national team that will represent Kenya in regional and international championships," Auma said.

"The tournament involves eight regional teams across the country, where by the teams are drawn within the eight regions which had their regional tournament before the national event," she added.

Defending champions Central region will be looking forward to defend the title they won last year in Nairobi after defeating Metropolitan 4-2.

They will, however, have to beat Great Rift, Western and Coast regions in pool B.

In pool A, hosts Lake region will take on last year's runners up Metropolitan, North Eastern and Eastern teams.

This is the first time Kisumu is hosting the national event. The matches start today at Moi Stadium and Jomo Kenyatta Sports ground.
