A man is mourning after his close friend eloped with his wife and 10 kids on Tuesday at Bokoma village in Bonchari, Kisii County.
Augustine Gisemba said he was happily married with his wife, Esther Kemunto for 15 years.
"I married my wife 20 years ago and she had 3 children from her previous marriage and God blessed us with 7 more. Edgar Chomba has been a close friend visiting us at home and I never knew he could end up eloping with my wife," he said.
Gisemba said he returned home from Suneka on Tuesday and found his wife and the children missing.
Gisemba said he searched for them everywhere until he was informed that Chomba came to his home with a pickup took his wife and packed all their belongings.
"I was informed by neighbors who saw Chomba helping my wife packing her belongings. I traced them to Nyamira market where I found them in a rental house with all my kids," he said.
Area chief Peter Manwaye said he has summoned Chomba and the woman to appear in his office on Thursday morning over the matter.
"It is shameful that Chomba decided to elope with a woman who is married and a mother to 10 kids instead of him looking for someone else," he said.
