Two Maseno University students are nursing gun shot wounds, after they were attacked, and shot by thieves on Sunday night, after the final World cup match between Croatia and France.
The two were shot while heading home after watching the match in Siriba campus.
Reports from the students indicate that the thieves were armed with guns and threatened to shoot innocent students walking at night.
Narrating what happened, one of the shot students noted that as they were heading home, some of his colleagues were arguing on the World Cup final result causing a lot of noise.
He further divulged that they were not aware that thieves were ahead of them.
According to the student, the noise from the argument frightened the thieves who thought they were being attacked by the students, and thus they started hurling bullets at them.
"We were arguing out loudly after the match as we headed home. We never knew thieves were in the immediate darkness ahead of us.The thieves thought we were attacking them and they started hurling bullets at us. Everyone ran for their own safety but I got shot on my hand as the other student got shot on the back and the arm," he said.
The shot students were rushed to Maseno University hospital, but were later transferred to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital.
