In what again could raise eyebrows among politicians, officials from the office of the President were missing in action at Nyamira, where DP William Ruto landed for a series of functions.
At around 10:40am, the DP arrived in his helicopter only to be ushered in by local politicians led by West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi, Kitutu Masaba's Shadrack Mose and Borabu MP Ben Momanyi.
Conspicuously, County Commissioner Amos Mariba and his entire team were missing in action, a move that is likely to cause yet another political storm.
Usually, the office of President officials, previously called Provincial Administration team, attend functions of State officials in their jurisdictions.
It is not clear why Mr Marine and his team snubbed Dr Ruto's functions. However, police officers were sent to provide security throughout the DP's stay.
A fortnight ago, there were claims that Dr Ruto confronted Interior PS Karanja Kibicho at JKIA, accusing him of sabotaging his trips across the country by withdrawing local state officials who have a mandate to give security and supervision.
"I am happy to come to Nyamira. Our aim is to ensure our children get technical skills for their future endeavors," Ruto said while launching construction of West Mugirango Technical Training Institute.
Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose assured him that the region will solidly stand with him in 2022 polls, adding that they will not tolerate any betrayal.
"You came here with the president, we delivered for the team. We are again ready to do it again in 2022. Nobody will pull us back. The county is in your safe hands," he said.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i on Wednesday cancelled Nyamira trip because it coincided with Dr Ruto's tour. He was set to open newly constructed Keroka Police apartments.
It's not clear whether County Commissioner Amos Mariba and his team are involved in planning for Madaraka Day celebrations or he deliberately avoided the function. No Communication has been issued so far.
