A 12-year-old pupil has reportedly been chocked to death by a doughnut (mandazi) in Central Kamagambo, Rongo constituency, Migori County.
Hillary Ochieng allegedly died after swallowing a mandazi in the Monday incident that has left fellow pupils, teachers, parents, and neighbors very shocked.
At the time of his death, he was a standard five pupil at Kosodo Primary School in Migori County.
He died while undergoing treatment at the Rongo Level 4 hospital.
“The boy bought two mandazis at the local shopping centre at break time and allegedly swallowed it whole as he was being followed by his fellow pupils who wanted to get a share of the mandazi,” Kosodo Primary School head teacher Ernest Onyango was quoted by the Standard.
Speaking to Standard, the boy’s mother Susan Anyango noted that she was shocked to the core by the death of her son.
She further noted that it was so painful since her son had not been diagnosed with any disease.
The boy’s body was moved to the Rosewood Hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
