Deputy President William Ruto for the first time on Wednesday told off Jubilee vice chair David Murathe on the escalating wrangles within the ruling party albeit indirectly.
A couple of weeks ago, Murathe ruled out Ruto's chances, insisting that the country's second in command is dangerous in holding public offices.
"In few minutes he's been around, you can see what he has done. He'd very dangerous and we cannot allow him to take over. That will be betray to Kenyans," he said.
Days later, Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju, another close confidant of President Uhuru Kenyatta, insisted that Ruto was not automatic candidate for the Jubilee party.
But at Sugoi, Ruto slammed Murathe insisting that he's ready to tackle those interested in Jubilee ticket adding that he will back the winner should he lose fairly.
"We shall go to nominations and I will support the winner should I lose fairly. Jubilee Party was founded on democratic principles and we must respect that.
"Democracy is about fair competition. I don't expect to be endorsed by anyone. This thing is about going to the people and I am confident," he said.https://twitter.com/OleItumbi/status/1080882986730639360?s=19
The Handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga seems to have displaced Ruto from the equation, thus his persistent jibes against the president's allies.
At the eve of New Year, President Uhuru Kenyatta discouraged journalists against dwelling on succession politics, adding that he's more concerned with his legacy.
