President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday received the credentials of the new Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng at State House, Nairobi.
The ambassador is expected to strengthen cordial ties being enjoyed between Kenya and China.
The Chinese Republic has been one of the major donors to this nation with Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in office, having made several trips to the country amid criticisms from various quarters.“
"President Kenyatta today received credentials from the incoming Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Wu Peng at State House, Nairobi. Ambassador Wu is also the Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the UN Environment and the UN-Habitat | @WilliamsRuto @ChineseKenya,” State House confirmed.
The Chinese government has funding several projects in the country including the Standard Gauge Railway.
The arrival of the ambassador comes barely a month after President Uhuru Kenyatta reached out to China President Xi Jinping in a bid to secure a non-permanent seat in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
The heads of the two nations have pledged to work together during their reign for the sake of development.
The huge debt burden by the Kenyan government has, however, raised eye brows among various groups.
