It is with no much argument that one of the things that cost former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa his position is the pathetic state of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga mausoleum.

It is at the place during his tour in December last year that President Uhuru Kenyatta for the first time scolded Echesa in the presence of opposition chief Raila Odinga, Jaramogi's son.

Uhuru was so irked about the pathetic state of the mausoleum despite being established in honour of the founding Vice President that he mercilessly bashed Echesa.

He was so angry that the mausoleum had been deserted by National Museums of Kenya employees over lack of pay despite having been gazetted as a national museum in 2005.

Its also at the same place that the President hinted at firing Echesa, taking issue with his incompetence, accusing him of wasting his time in useless political engagements.

"You wait for weekends where you attend every funeral insulting your rivals. That is not the work of a CS. That is the work of politicians. You don’t seem to know your job description," Uhuru was quoted by the Standard.

It is even evident from the images taken at the scene that the head of state was angry with the young CS for not taking his job seriously and as a result more trouble could have just brewed up to make up the collective reason for firing the CS.
