A student from Lamu Polytechnic has been reported missing.

23-year-old Juma Mohamed, reportedly went missing when he alongside his schoolmates went to Shela beach along the Indian Ocean, for a swimming expedition.

The Electrical Engineering student was reported missing on Friday at around 10a.m and is suspected to have drowned.

According to Juma Londo, the Lamu West OCPD, a team of divers and marine police have been assigned to search for the student.

He asked fellow students to remain calm and await police report over the matter.
