Peris Mokomba, believed to be around 70 years of age, is now appealing to well wishers to rescue her from the 'death penalty', adding that she has nowhere to run to.

So dire is the situation, ODM Youth League Leader Dennis Marube says, that the widow literally sleeps on the floor or at times in a makeshift bed which does little from helping her from a possible pneumonia outbreak.

"It's a sad situation. We have talked to her and nobody seems to be caring about her. She sleeps on makeshift bed with dirty beddings which have given jiggers a perfect environment to operate on."

From a distance, one can think that the house in which she lives in was abandoned decades ago. More disappointingly, the house often leaks thus making her nights unbearable especially during rainy seasons.

Patrick Matoke, a community service guru, says the widow is in need of urgent medical attention, adding that she also needs food and a new house.

"She's elderly but abandoned. She needs urgent medical attention, food, beddings and even a new house. We are requesting well wishers to chip in and save the situation," Matoke said.

Due to ignorance and negligence, those close to the granny, reports indicate, have never made an effort to register her with government so that she receives monthly stipend of Sh3,000.
