After long period of waiting, hundreds of youths from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties will have an opportunity to welcome their leader, Don Bosco Gichana.
Over the weekend, his brother, Pascal Gichana, paid Sh15 million as court fine for his release.
"I have already complied with what the court asked us to do and we are doing clearance before jetting home. It has been quite a tough journey," Gichana said.
According to him, his brother will board an aircraft from Tanzania to Nairobi after which plans to visit their rural home will be discussed.
"We know the mood at the ground. People want to see him soonest especially youths who have been supporting throughout. We shall leave Tanzania any time this week after clearance for Nairobi," he said, adding that clearance could end by Wednesday.
A fortnight ago, Mr. Don Bosco Gichana pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud charges and was subsequently sentenced to five years in prison.
But having spent the years in remand, he will be spared of the jail term thus the only requirement to pay the fine.
A group of youths led by activist Beavon Magare, insists that Mr. Gichana will be given a high profile homecoming at his Gusii backyard.
"It's an exciting moment. We shall invite him to Gusii in style. It's going to be a big ceremony," he said.
The youthful politician is a close ally of Raila Odinga and the latter is said to have influenced his release.
