Embattled Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu alias Babayao on Friday made a surprise move by accepting to receive Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga into Tatu City.
Raila Odinga was the chief guest in a groundbreaking ceremony at the Tatu City.
Governor Waititu, who is currently being investigated over several alleged economic crimes, led a top delegation of local politicians in receiving him the powerful ODM leader.
However, what has sparked debate is why the governor who has been said to be DP Ruto's close ally offered to receive Raila.
Speculation is now rife that the first time governor could silently be mending his broken relationship with Uhuru's new found ally in a bid to 'save' himself from the ongoing probe that is threatening to send him behind the bars.
Even as the duo shared common podium after months of the war of words, not much is available on what they privately discussed.
But speaking during the groundbreaking function, Raila maintained that war against corruption was unstoppable. This, alone, could mean that Waititu's troubles are far from getting a breathtaking reprieve.
In his past arrests, Waititu was rumoured to have reached to DP Ruto for intervention. This notwithstanding, Ruto has severally defended Waititu in public on the ongoing graft probes jointly conducted by DCI and EACC detectives.
