Kabogo said the DP should not be held accountable over wrongs committed by cabinet secretaries from his Rift Valley backyard as the war on graft gains momentum.

In a tweet on Sunday, the former county boss, however, stated that in case Ruto was directly linked to any scandal, there should be no hesitation in investigating and prosecuting him.

"If a minister steals why do we say it’s Ruto. Let Ruto carry his cross for what he himself has stolen but not what Kalenjin ministers or others have stolen. And if those who steal do it for him then they’re foolish," Kabogo posted.

Kabogo's remarks come at a time when a section of Jubilee and ODM politicians have been accusing the DP of defending CSs from his region battling graft accusations.

Led by National Assembly Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, the leaders have asked Ruto to be in the forefront of the fight against corruption instead of allegedly cushioning some individuals from investigations.

"The fight against corruption needs converted efforts hence it is wrong for somebody like the Deputy President to cushion a graft suspect," Mbadi said on Saturday.

The Suba South legislator spoke during a fundraiser at Okok Mixed Secondary School in Ndhiwa Constituency, Homa Bay County.
