Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has finally joined the heated debate on the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
Speaking in Murang'a on Monday, Musyoka called for political calm, urging political leaders to stop interfering in the projects and let the matter be handled by the involved investigative institutions.
He cautioned Deputy President William Ruto who was also in attendance against being too vocal on the issue, arguing that he risks undermining the war on graft.
"Ruto, don’t speak about corruption, let DCI officers do their part. You will be surprised with what they will achieve if we allow them to do their work,” Said Kalonzo as quoted by the Standard.
The two leaders met at the funeral service of Margaret Wangechi who is the mother to area Senator Irungu Kangata at St Joseph The Worker Catholic church.
Kalonzo added that Ruto's recurrent contribution to the debate could end up frustrating his 2022 presidential bid, adding that the DP should try as much as possible to keep off the issue.
Ruto has since come out to rubbish initial claims that the nation has lost Sh21 billion after the contractor awarded the tender was declared bankrupt and unable to deliver.
The DP insists that only Sh7 billion has been paid to be the contractor, adding that the money has not been lost.
This has since attracted the attention of opposition leader Raila Odinga who has accused Ruto of possible involvement in the new scandal.
