The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has set April 25 for Wajir West parliamentary seat by-election.
The Wajir West seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court nullified Mohamed Kolosh's election.
Kolosh's election was nullified on grounds that it was not free and fair.
With the by-election date set, politicians eyeing the seat have started drumming for support.
Here is the list of politicians who have declared an interest in the Wajir West by-election.
1. Mohamed Kolosh
He is defending his seat on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
2. Abdirahman Ibrahim Mohamed
He successfully petitioned the election of Mohamed Kolosh.
He is expected to contest in the April 25 by-election on KANU ticket.
3. Yakub Mumin Dahiye
Mr Dahiye contested in the August 8, 2017, general election.
He is expected to contest in the by-election on Amani National Congress (ANC) Party.
4. Mohamed Yussuf Elmi
He is seeking the Wajir West seat on Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) ticket.
5. Mohamed Ahmed Khalif
He is seeking the seat on Party for Development and Reform (PDR) ticket.
6. Abbas Nunow Shihaw
He is expected to vie the seat on Agano Party ticket.
7. Daud Mohamed Ali
He is the youngest candidate in the race for the Wajir West by-election.
The businessman plans to contest in the by-election as an independent candidate.
