Barely a week after he called for Deputy President William Ruto's retirement in 2022, Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe has been turned into a punching bag by Ruto's allies.
The latest attack came on Tuesday, a section of lawmakers using separate events to air their displeasure with the President Uhuru Kenyatta's remarks.
Belgut MP Nelson Koech termed the former Gatanga MP as a scared opportunist who carefully chose December to make the remarks, well aware that he wouldn't be countered.
He dared Murathe to make similar remarks once the parliament emerges from recess after the Christmas festivities, warning him of dire consequences.
"Murathe chose to make his remarks during Christmas period when parliament is in recess and most of us were concentrating on Christmas festivities.
"We dare him that if he is man enough to dare repeat his remarks on ordinary working days and brace himself for the political ramifications,” he was quoted by the Standard..
He was speaking during a funeral in Sireret Village in Kiplelion West, Kericho county.
The leader has since called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta's to expelled Murathe from the party for peddling divisive remarks threatening to kill the party ahead of the polls.
He said that Ruto will be elected not because of who supports him or not but his track record.
“The Jubilee leadership under President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have not discriminated any part of the country in terms of development.
There is no doubt that Kenyans will reward vote for Ruto to become the president in the 2022 general elections," he added.
