Led by the Machakos County Assembly's Majority Leader, Mark Mwendo, the county legislatures accused Mutua of embezzling public fund meant for executing development projects in the county.

They said Mutua must account for all the funds which he has syphoned in pretense of implementing 'fake' or non-existing projects in various wards within the county.

Mwendo said they will conduct demonstrations to Mutua's office in Machakos town on October 8, 2018 to seek explanations on how his administration has been utilizing the taxpayers' money.

"So, note that date. We will meet there and leave only after he tells us where he is taking our money," Mwendo said.

They spoke during a church service at Kaseve Catholic Church in Mua, Machakos County on Sunday.

"Honourable members and residents, we will hold demonstrations up to Mutua's office so that he tells us where he is taking our bursaries and funds meant for constructing roads in the county," added he.

They were 21 MCAs from Machakos, Makueni and Kitui Counties including Machakos Speaker Florence Mwangangi who promised residents that she will work tirelessly to ensure that they receive their services in the right way.

"I will make laws to enable you get the services in the way you should," Mwangangi said.
