Deputy President has opened up on his 2022 plans and preparation after a while of silence.
Speaking at his home in Sugoi, Uasin Gishu on Wednesday, the leader said that he is ready for the presidential race.
In a veiled attack to a section of the ruling Jubilee Party leaders who have been poking holes into his bid, Ruto said that he is ready to battle anyone on his way.
He said that he is aware that he might have to battle other Jubilee presidential hopefuls in the nominations, expressing his readiness for the same.
“I am ready to battle with anybody. Let my competitors put on the table what they have done for this country," he was quoted by the Standard.
This was an indirect response to party Secretary General Raphael Tuju who on Sunday warned him against expecting a direct ticket for the Jubilee flag.
Ruto was speaking when he hosted delegations of elected leaders from Busia and Bungoma Counties.
He added that he is best placed to lead the nation as its fifth president after the polls basing on his track record.
He termed hard work and service delivery as the only route to political success, adding that some of his pending competitors have been trying to get to the seat through shortcuts.
“There are those hanging around, waiting for endorsements. How do you expect to be endorsed if you have no agenda or programme for the country?” he wondered.
Leaders who attended the function included Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong', Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka and a host of lawmakers.
