An Assistant Chief was on Tuesday arraigned in a Migori court over allegations of robbery with violence.
North Kanyajuok Assistant Chief Joseph Nyamanga and his son Kennedy Nyamanga were arraigned at the Rongo Courts to answer to the charges.
The prosecution told Migori Senior Resident Magistrate Raymond Langat that the two assaulted and robbed Mr Patrick Mackabong'o on Saturday last week.
The two allegedly attacked the victim with clubs and machetes before stealing his Infinix mobile phone worth Ksh18, 000 and Ksh21, 000 cash money.
According to Rongo OCPD Kibet Kirui, the incident happened when Mackabong'o went to work on a 1.4 acre farm which the two sides are fighting over in Kitere.
He said that the accused had brought with them a group of youth who also abetted in assaulting the complainant.
"While on the farm, he was attacked by a group of youths who beat him repeatedly before police officers from Rongo Police Station intervened," Kirui told the Nation.
The two denied the allegations and were each released on a Ksh200,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard again on February 25, at a time when the police have launched a manhunt for the youth that was involved in assaulting the victim.
