At a church on Sunday, Atwoli took issues with maize farming stalemate, adding that people had lost faith in their own government.

"God please protect us from these cartels. They have invaded the poor people's pockets. We have little we can do. You can even see maize farmers being frustrated.

"We ask you to touch Jomo Kenyatta's son (Uhuru) so that he can save us. There is a lady from FKE who wants to run away with billions from NSSF," Atwoli is heard praying.

Cases of corruption have escalated in the country with the maize farming debacle raising political temperatures in the Rift Valley.

Politicians allied to Gideon Moi, led by Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny, have directly implicated Deputy President William Ruto in the scandal that saw Sh2.5 billion paid to cartels.

"The maize farming stalemate is orchastrated by the DP and his office. That's why you can't see him commenting about it," Kutuny argued.
